2011 Discraft Ace Race

What: Discraft Ace Race - 2 rounds of 18 holes ranging from 50-125 feet - it's all about Aces!
When: Saturday, October 22
Time: 2:00 P.M.
Where: Mesker Park DGC

Each Autumn, disc golfers from around the world gather at their local courses for one purpose: to throw aces! No putting, no approaching... just runnin' at the chains.
To add to the challenge and excitement, players all throw the same model disc: in past years this has been a brand new, never-seen-before Discraft prototype disc that is introduced each year especially for Ace Race. All participants receive a player's pack that includes two discs, a mini, sticker and a golf bag. 2011 player's package is valued at over $50, and your entry fee is only $25!

The plan is to get 10 people or more payed for that way we can do our first order and see the new disc in person. All the holes this year will be 75 - 125 feet since this disc is huge!!!

I plan on playing. I had the opportunity to throw this years discs this weekend. It is a large dia. slow disc. It is flippy when thrown with power. The pro D plastic is more stable. I liked it better due to this.

I got a question for you Honey Badger Boys running this little shindig... How long are you planning on making these holes?

Since the Ace Race is to be a fun event, I'd really love to see the holes nice and short where beginners have a chance too. I'm tired of going to Ace Races and seeing maybe 1 ace, if that.

If any of the holes are over 150 ft, it's too long for this in my opinion. Can we keep it 70ft-150ft and have obstacles on the shorter ones to still keep it a challenge?

We've already talked about it and we are going to keep them short. Probably a couple <75 with obstacles, a couple at the 125 mark that are open, and the rest will be an assortment between.

I don't want to speak for Tbone, but I think that is exactly what he is making it. Maybe even a little shorter.

I played in the Indianapolis Ace Race yesterday. They did some cool things. They had 32 short holes set up. Two of the holes they put two baskets next to each other to give you a greater chance of hitting metal. What sucks is I never hit either of these (haha). This was definitely the best Ace Race I have ever done.

I like the two basket idea! Can we use your basket Jack?

I have two. How many do we need to get?

Two would be great to add to the baskets already there.

We are going to need 6 temp baskets for the Ace Race. I'd prefer metal baskets, but if we can't come up with enough we can use cloth.
